Neuromuscular Dentistry/TMJ

Do you have headaches or migraines, jaw pain, dizziness, or clenching of teeth? If you experience head, neck, and/or facial pain, our Lynchburg dental team can help. Often these symptoms indicate TMJ disorder, which occurs when the temporomandibular joint is out of sync. Dr. Kiger will evaluate your condition with the goals of stopping the problem, protecting your teeth from further damage, and correcting underlying bite problems.

To understand neuromuscular dentistry, it helps to know a few things about occlusion, or bite, which means the way your upper and lower teeth fit together. Dr. Kiger will find your correct bite using advanced technology, and if necessary, are able to do a full mouth reconstruction to alleviate problems associated with an incorrect bite.

Using computerized equipment, Dr. Kiger will measure and study the pattern of your jaw as it opens and closes, through its full range of motion. Rather than relying on your present jaw position as best, Dr. Kiger uses the computer information, as well as his years of expertise, to determine whether your jaw position should be adjusted.
